Photovoltaic (PV) panels use the energy from the sun to generate electricity with zero CO2 emissions. This energy can be used to run industrial, commercial and domestic appliances, lighting and importantly provide significant income generation (£’s) utilising the Feed In Tariff (FIT).
Importantly, solar PV panels do not rely on direct sunlight to work - as long as there is daylight, and your panels are appropriately installed, power will be generated. Our surveyors will assess whether your building is suitable for solar panels, checking factors such as the aspect of the roof, wall or land, and the amount of sunlight received.
Sunlight is processed into electrical energy through semiconductor materials – most commonly crystaline silicon which gives a good lifespan. Metal conductors channel the electricity as direct current to the inverter, where it is converted to AC electricity, ready to use or to sell.
The power that our system provides will be a factor of the aspect of the roof (or equivalent), the surface area of the system, and the type of panel used. REG use only the finest quality solar panels, so we will be working hard with you to maximise the power produced and available to sell to the Grid.
The same principle applies to larger installations. Modules are joined and multiplied up to form an array - to provide sufficient power for commercial and industrial needs.
