Solar Thermal
Panels on the roof absorb daylight and transfer this energy to a fluid-filled system.
A solar pump keeps this fluid circulating, and a control box puts you in charge.
This fluid runs to the hot water cylinder where a heat exchange coil transfers the heat to your hot water.
Your existing boiler provides a top-up to the hot water when required.
How it works:
Solar water heating systems use free heat from the sun to warm domestic hot water inside your hot water cylinder. And even the heat from the sun may need a helping hand, so a conventional heating element remains within your cylinder to boost this whenever required.
How do solar water heating systems work?
Solar water heating systems use solar panels, called collectors, fitted to your roof (or equivalent). These collect heat from the sun and use it to warm water which is stored in the hot water cylinder.
You set your immersion heater to the normal temperature (typically 60ºC) – the solar panel will provide as much heat as the weather allows, and your mains hot water element will help this along.
Our water heating solar panels can be fitted without fuss onto your existing tiles – or even integrated into your roof – we can discuss these options with you.
The benefits of solar water heating:
Hot water throughout the year: the system works all year round, though obviously your immersion heater has more work to do in the winter months.
Cut your bills: sunlight is free, so once you've paid for the initial installation your hot water costs will be reduced.
Cut your carbon footprint: solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system, so it reduces your carbon dioxide emissions
