Is your home suitable for Solar Thermal?
The chances are your home is fine – our Solar Thermal panels can be fitted to most homes, usually on the roof. Solar Thermal panels benefit from plenty of sunlight, but this doesn’t necessarily need to be direct sunshine – simply plenty of sunlight – which means that our Solar Thermal panels can be fitted on roofs facing anywhere between south-west and south-east.
Do you have a sunny place to put solar panels? You'll need around 5 square metres of roof space facing between south east and south west which receives direct sunlight for the main part of the day.
Alternatively, if you do not have a south facing roof and if you have space, you could install two panels, one facing east and one facing west – this makes installation more expensive, but is better than doing nothing. The panels don't always have to be mounted on a roof, they can be fixed to a frame on flat roofs and so forth – feel free to
ask us for our opinion – that’s what we’re here for.
We’ll be with you each step of the way, so let us make an assessment of your location and we’ll provide our recommendations of the type of panel that we think would work best for you, and where we think we should place them – and remember, our proposal is free of charge, so don’t hesitate to ask.
We can even install on both east and west-facing roofs if necessary – you’ll lose around 15% efficiency, but that’s still much better than not fitting them at all.
Does the house location matter?
The key thing to consider here is whether the panels would be in the shadow of other buildings and so forth for substantial parts of the day – otherwise you’re fine anywhere in the UK – which means we can help whether you’re in the middle of a city or in a remote countryside location.
Do I need Planning Permission?
Generally, no – but it’s always a good idea to check with your local authority first. Exceptions are listed buildings, and some conservation areas. We can help to put you in touch with your local planning authority – just as REG!
